Sukkah

It was 10:00 p.m last (very cold) night when our Sukkah was finally up and ready to be decorated. Our veteran member, Darek –veteran both in Beit Warszawa and as our sukka builder served as the orchestrator during 5 hours it took. Darek’s assistants, from our Step-by-Step class members included Henryk, Maceij and Tomek. All of them quite adept at using hammers and nails. Their energy was boosted by a delicious supper prepared by Ella, Henryk’s wife and our Rabbi Gil Nativ supplied everyone with a glass of vodka. Maks (8 years old) was there to accompany his father, Maciej. For both of them it was the first time seeing a sukkah.

Tonight, first night of sukkot, we’ll be fulfilling the mitzvah of “dwelling” in the Sukka while wearing our coats for dinner but the full moon will shine through the leaves of the schach warming the faces of all members of Beit Warszawa.
