Join us for the inaugural class The Polish translation of Turning Points in Jewish History by Marc Rosenstein
Rabbis Mirski, Kirschenbaum, and Klimowa will present the inaugural multi-session class based on Rabbi Marc Rosenstein’s Turning Points in Jewish History.
Friends of Jewish Renewal in Poland sponsored the curriculum’s translation for the Polish audience. The initial class will be open to Polish speakers and English speakers. We invite people to join us for this auspicious beginning.
The book project was initiated after the unexpected death of the Renaissance career of Pawel Spiewak. Ellen Grant supported the preparation of the text in memory of grandmother Ellen Friedman Gluck and her mother, Estelle Gluck Grant. The book is used widely in adult education in the United States and benefits from the generous permission to publish the book originally sponsored by The Jewish Publication Society.

The Polish translation of Rabbi Marc Rosenstein’s Turning Points in Jewish History gives the Polish reading public a greater understanding of Jewish history. The historical volume makes accessible over thirty pivotal moments from biblical times to the near present to provide the reader with “the big picture.”
“Turning Points” covers from Hellenistic-Roman times, five in the Middle Ages and thirteen in modernity. We are pleased that noted translator Dorota Golebiewska worked on the central text of the book. The committee of Polish and International scholars helped develop accompanying materials.
The project is dedicated to the memory of Professor Pawel Spiewak, who trained as a sociologist but was truly a Renaissance individual. Spiewak was the long-time director of the Jewish Historical Institute who fostered many of the archives’ historical projects. Shortly before his passing, Spiewak agreed to oversee the translation of Turning Points in Jewish History. All mourn the loss of Spiewak’s wise presence.
The translation and curriculum project is now in the skillful hands of Dr. Dominika Zakrzewska, Professor Miroslaw Patalon, Rabbis Mirski and Kirschenbaum with members of the Rabbi Michael A. Signer Clergy Cabinet.
