This October 17, 2017 at CSUN an important panel discussion on the revival of Jewish cultural and religious life in Poland will feature an outstanding experts. Be sure to reserve a spot to attend.
All revivals seek to find a lost past. The phenomena of Friends of Jewish Revival in Poland is not an isolated effort. There is a religious component and a cultural component. The cultural component has the inspiring participation of many non-Jewish Poles who have become the leading experts in their fields. In the field of Polish Jewish history, the work of Marcin Wodzinski in the Centre for the Culture and Languages of the Jews at the University of Wroclaw has revolutionized the field. Wodzinski and his fellow faculty members have produced very talented students such as Agnieszka Ilwicka, who we featured three years ago in our blog here. The affirmation and devotion of many non-Jewish Poles often is treated with suspicion rather than the joy and respect it deserves.
Many of you are meeting Menachem Mirski through his weekly Torah commentaries and his music. In the coming months Menachem’s contributions will be featured at the blog Polish Jews Reviving.
Ellie Shapiro is a storied organizer from northern California who is documenting the Jewish music scene in music festivals all over Poland.
Neal Brostoff is the organizer of this panel and a number of music events.
We are pleased to know of these important opportunities and urge our community to attend. Thanks to Professor Jody Meyers of CSUN for fostering this panel.
