FOSTERING A VIBRANT RENEWAL OF JUDAISM IN POLAND
A march dedicated to the memory of the rabbis who were in the Ghetto and murdered passed through the streets of Warsaw.
July 22, 2024 – The thirteenth March of Remembrance, during which we paid tribute to the victims of the mass extermination of the Warsaw Ghetto on the 82nd anniversary of the great liquidation action. From July 22 to September 21, 1942, the Germans deported approximately 300,000 Warsaw Jews to the Treblinka extermination camp.
This year’s March of Remembrance was dedicated to the rabbis of the Warsaw Ghetto, who were the spiritual leaders of the religious inhabitants of the ghetto. They remained with their communities until the very end, supporting them and lifting their spirits.
After the official part, the March set off from the Umschlagplatz monument, walked along Stawki, Andersa, Anielewicza, Zamenhofa streets and ended at Dzielna 5 Street – this is where one of the heroes of the March, Rabbi Kalonimus Kalman Szapiro, lived and worked in the Warsaw ghetto.
