Ukrainian Refugee Aid UpdatesBeit Polska continues to lead through its on-the-ground person-to-person relief for refugees. Bookmark this post to follow along with our weekly updates. March 2022:

  • A shipment of medicine and food organized by Beit Trojmiasto (Tri-city Congregation) to her sister congregation in Lviv prepared.
  • Ukrainian Cultural Center run by Jan Karski Society in Kielce, Poland supported: a new facility offering various activities and food, managed by two women refugees for 300 fellow Ukrainian women and children.
  • Beit Polska gains the use of office space in downtown Warsaw (free of charge for a minimum of 3 months) for the Beit Polska Ukrainian Refugee Relief Office.
  • Gas bills of volunteer drivers ferrying people from the UA border to homes offset. Many other sustaining activities…
  • Ongoing preparation of major scale longer-term programs addressing the needs of mothers and children.
  • In the Press: [UKRAINE EMERGENCY SUPPORT] Project donates clothing, toiletries and suitcases to people who are starting a new life (3-27-22, World Union for Progressive Judaism -WUPJ)
  • In the Press: 53 suitcases and a ticket to Warsaw: One woman’s Ukraine relief effort (The Forward, 3-16-22)
  • 3/16/22: Mrs. Cook arrived to Warsaw, see photos here.
  • 3/15/22: Mrs. Barbara Cook is leaving San Francisco with 20 cases of clothing for women and children from Ukraine. Mrs. Cook will accompany the cases and be be met in Warsaw by Marek Jezowki, the chair of Beit Polska, the Progessive Jewish communities in Poland. Beit Polska aided Mrs. Cook’s efforts.
  • Beit Polska is supplying 500 soups to Ukrainian refugees at the East Warsaw train station.
  • Beit Polska is gathering food and medicines to be sent to Lviv, Ukraine.
  • The arrangements for the special school were confirmed with Marek Jezowski  and an initial grant was sent this week to principal, Izabela Popławska.  
  • This week small emergency distributions were made for food and gas. The major allocation was to support 20 Ukrainian autistic children joining a school. This $5000.00 donation went to hiring Ukrainian-speaking staff –  teachers, psychologists etc. Additional expenses include meals at school.
  • Beit Polska is sending food, medicine, thermal blankets, etc. to the Progressive congregation in Lviv, Ukraine to help with people coming the east..
